In between the purple stripes, the bulb wrappers are very white and thick. The flavor is very hot when eaten raw and is a long-storing garlic. Metechi is an upright plant that has broad leaves, a large bulbil capsule and bulbils. This Metechi will give you a high powered garlic flavor! Garlic survives bitterly cold winters underground and then grows rapidly when the weather warms in spring; bulbs in summer. Garlic needs fertile soil with lots of organic matter. The soil needs to remain uncompacted through the long growing season. It is a root vegetable, with the bulb growing underground.
