Japanese Maple Garnet

Winner of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit by the Royal Horticulture Society, Garnet stands out even among the brilliantly-colored Japanese Maple family. Its petite stature, dramatic weeping habit, and splendid foliage color changes add remarkable texture and tone to the partly-shaded garden. Vigorous, pendulous, and spreading, it lends itself to scrambling over walls, marching down slopes, and other interesting landscape applications.The new spring foliage of Garnet is bright red, the long, slender 7- to 11-lobed leaves casting bright shadows on the garden floor. By summer the foliage has darkened to the rich, orange-infused garnet that gives this cultivar its name. Then in autumn it blazes all shades of brilliant orange, red, and purple! Just 6 feet high and 10 feet wide, it is even suitable for large containers. Zones 6-8.
